Former "Black Only" Schools of North Carolina
Brown Elementary School, Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina 2006
I became interested in the schools that African-Americans attended during the period of segregation in the United States after coming across my grandmother’s old Contemporary and Modern World History text book, and wondered what and where were the schools that my parents, grandparents and other African-Americans attended. At the end of this project I hope to obtain not only a catalogue of more notable schools that would fall under the Rosenwald Funded Schools but those institutions which have integrated so much so into contemporary society that they're origins are forgotten.
